Todays Adventures

Today was incredibly productive! With storm season well on the way, I wanted to do something homey. So my friend Lauren, my little kitten and I decided to have a baking day! We spent the entire day making cupcakes with sparkles, brownies with choc chips and a cake with pearls all of which were from the Donna Hay Collection. I just love Donna Hay recipes! The day started off rather spontaneous however, you see the brownie mix failed to come with icing, so... we ended up back at the store to pick up extra icing. Not only did we leave with icing, but also an oversized halloween style pumpkin for carving!

After picking up the pumpkin and running a few errands, we finally arrived home and began baking. Through the time periods which we weren't cooking and items were in the oven, we put on disney movies (Toy Story and Aristacats) what a blast from the past! Towards the end of the day we decided to take a crack at this "pumpkin carving thing". So with great difficult, time and confusion we finally got there and surprisingly succeeded at carving our very own, classic halloween pumpkin! Which was so much fun! So all in all the day was full of adventures and all all round success.

You are VICTORIOUS!

It is important to record when you do something victorious that is an accomplishment to you, despite how small, a victory is a factory no matter how big or small. Someone once used the analogy of a staircase to explain to me that the speed of how fast you achieve your victories or how big your victories are in comparison to other people doesn’t matter. You start at the bottom of your long staircase the amount of steps on the staircase varies for each person, as does the size of the steps. But the staircase itself represents the journey your about to take or the change you need to make, even a circumstance your hoping to let go of. So, you take the first step. The first step is always the most difficult to climb up. This is because taking the first step is telling yourself “its okay, im ready to do this and I can do this, I will do this”. This is allowing yourself to move foreword. You have given yourself permission. Now that’s not to say your going to take each step in its stride one by one up the staircase. You will climb a few steps and need to walk down one or two, but walking down those few will help you see that climbing up is truly worth it. As you walk up you will get exhausted and tired, you will question your abilities. But in time you will keep going. Your steps may seem to get bigger and they are harder to climb over and will tale more time and you may even need help. But once your over those big steps, the smaller ones will appear so much easier and the further you go you will stop questioning its worth and look past the struggle and physical and emotional exhaustion. You will see what you were looking for, you will see the end of your difficult circumstance and you will see that each victory you have accomplished, is a victory in itself. Through this you will see how far you have truly come and wont dare look back.

Today's adventures

Today was rather productive! My good friend Kate and I went on a little shopping adventure. When i'm with my friends what starts out to be an average day shopping turn out to be a full blown adventure and completely productive and fun. For example, today Kate and I began having a sward fight with foam swards in the middle of the store until r collected ourselves and realised where we were and what we were doing. There is nothing better than spending the day with good friends who know how to make you feel your best. The best laid plans are always the plans that have not been organised in my opinion, spontaneity is key!

Tour of my bedroom

So this is my bedroom complete after a nice long spring clean, however, these images do seem to make it look a little but cluttered but it truly needed a good clean out. I have located most of my jewellery in a white antique coffee table cabinet which I quite like (I have a habit of keeping most of my belongings with or in their boxes, it just seems more organised. I often do this with my shoes also. I have my coats hung up on an extra clothing rack beside my desk as I ran out of room in my wardrobe funnily enough. I have held onto a few childhood items and kept them as decorations in my room such as a few teddy bears, a collectors edition Barbie and a tea set .

At my desk

Stationary from http://www.kikki-k.com/

This is where I spend a majority of my time. As a student I often wall off to the world and retreat to my desk in my bedroom. I decided decorate it primarily in a while theme and all stationary and desk items were purchased from Kikki K stationary store (http://www.kikki-k.com/). The white just appears so clean and allows me to maintain focus on the task at hand. Above my desk I have a large antique brass mirror with photos of important people to me and a quote by Orison Swett Marden "Believe with all your heart that you will do what you were made to do". I love it. I also love to keep a vase of flowers on my desk to keep me smiling while i'm working away.

My most recent purchases

I adore purchasing new jewellery! I am very much a silver girl, it just seems to sparkle more and is more girly, although I do tend to wear a lot more gold in the warmer seasons. But for now I am sticking with my silver. I have just treated myself with a silver "Return to Tiffany and Co" bracelet and a silver Spinning ring. I prefer to purchase jewellery with my own saving as a-pose to getting it given to me as a gift. This is because to me, something as personal as jewellery should be chosen by the one who is wearing it. Also, i'm a firm believer in saving for items I really like as a reward to myself for certain achievements.
1. Paint Pot in Painterly by MAC: This product hides any discoloration on the eyelids while allowing the true pigment in eye shadows to stand out. It’s the only base I use!
2. Kate Summerville ExfoliKate Intense Exfoliating Treatment: This treatment combats my acne and heals my skin, creating a smooth surface for makeup. The tingle tells me that it’s working!
3. Benefit HighBrow: Benefit was my first introduction to “big girl” makeup! HighBrow completes a dramatic eye look, but also looks great if you don’t have time for shadow (it lifts the brow and hides stray hairs!).
4. Philosophy Soul Owner Foot exfoliating cream: Pedicures are one splurge I can’t resist – I love to maintain my feet! But when life gets too busy, Soul Owner is simple and convenient.
5. MAC “Impassioned” Lipstick: This color is HOT! I love the intense pink and orange combination!
6. Christian Dior’s ‘Miss Dior Chérie’ Eau de Parfum Spray: My signature fragrance — including my wedding day! I wear the Eau De Parfum — the scent is richer and lasts longer.
7. YSL Volume Effect Faux Cils Noir Radical Mascara: This mascara provides length and volume, while its intense pigment creates a false lash effect!
8. Fashion by Deborah Lippmann: My very first nail color from Deborah Lippmann. Though neutral, it makes a statement fit for every age and occasion!
9. Yves Saint Laurent ‘Gloss Pur’ Pure Lip Gloss in Pure Nude 001: The perfect nude! I love the texture and the level of moisture it offers.

Just a little motivation (Your Body Is your temple)

I love to write bits and pieces when I am feeling motivated which I am hoping to turn all of my little pieces of work into a book for young women about their emotional and physical wellbeing and lifestyle. This is a little something I am currently working on.

When it comes to the value of one’s self; the connection between your mind, body and spirit is crucial. The way I see it is that your body is your temple, therefore, it should be treated with respect and reverence. This includes your diet and nutrition, exercise, skin care, sleep patterns, how your mind interacts as one with your body and the general upkeep and presentation of yourself. I believe that every woman, weather you are in your teens or preparing to retire, you are a princess, so it is important to treat yourself like one. It is important to treat your body with great significance on the inside but also the outside. In order to achieve the healthy balanced body you desire, it is important to acknowledge how you ‘feel’ about yourself and where you want to be. To achieve success in the things you want, you must recognize the little victories you achieve in you day to day life. Every ounce of positivity you embrace is a victory in itself. Thus, it is important to embrace then each individually in order for you to build up and move foreword in being the great success you were born to be. Each individual was put on this earth for a purpose, we all have a principle and a plan for which we must work through the ups and downs, which the hands of shall deal us which are in turn a test of our core strength and sense of inner power. Once each and every one of our tests are complete, we then move on to a realization that we are in fact bigger and better people for what we have embarked on through our personal journey of growth and personal realization. You will then see yourself for who and what you really are; a strong willed and comfortable in yourself.

Give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice- the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God's will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

Romans 12:1-2-

A person’s diet can affect not only their body, but also how they behave and their emotions. When they say, “You are what you eat” whoever came up with that had a lot of insight into the analogy of diet and ones lifestyle. As I mentioned previously, its important to have balance; not only spiritually and mentally, but also physically. Your physical state allows you to grow and become the person you aim to be. Through my experience I adapted an organic gluten free diet. This was merely because organic raw foods contain their original nutrients with the maintained value of their vitamins whereas a gluten free diet aids with digestion, intestinal control and suppresses future health problems such as intestinal cancer. A gluten free diet is one that avoids all foods containing wheat, rye, barley and oats. A gluten free diet isn’t for everyone; for me it was a personal choice after a long personal battle with an eating disorder and anxiety for most of my young life. There came a point where I was at a head. I had to decide to choice life, the path God has planned for me. That despite how I may be feeling about myself, Jesus gave the ultimate sacrifice for MY life, he did the same for yours. Some nutritional decisions require commitment based on the individuals decisions. I had come to understand the concept that much like the verse above, I needed to acknowledge that being anxious in ones skin isn’t the will of God. We were created to be proud of who we are, embrace all tour flaws and glorify in our purpose.

I wake up every morning to a cup of hot water with fresh lemon squeezed through it to detoxify the body and kick-start the metabolism. I think that’s something every person should adapt to. Your body needs to be looked after and flushed out every once and a while. The importance of a healthy, nutritious lifestyle is not taken seriously enough in today’s society. The epidemic of fast and unhealthy food is becoming more prominent and thus, socially acceptable. When we are in a race against time, we tend to do whatever it takes to win. This is not always the best approach. It usually ends up in settling for a burger or medium fries with a milkshake. Even when we opt for a healthier fast food option, such as a subway sandwich, we overlook the fact that just because a white bread sandwich crammed full with various meats, salad, cheese and sauce is still not all that healthy. When we look at it from an irrational point of view, we automatically assume we are eating “healthy”, but what we don’t understand is that white bread is not all that healthy, if it were a whole grain or wheat free bread, that would be a better alternative, however, most people are automatically prone to choose a full white bread, or Turkish bread based sandwich. White bread is high in GI carbohydrates. When you consume such high levels of GI, the carbohydrates cause sugars to be entered into the bloodstream at a significantly high speed. Moreover, there will be a sufficient raise in your blood sugar levels, could also increase levels of cholesterol and increase a person’s chances of attaining type 1 diabetes. What is often overlooked is the impact, which one’s mood or aptitude of an adaptive thought process. In turn, in my experience through learning to treat my body with the respect it deserves, I aim to attain the most balanced diet possible illustrating a belief in moderation as a key concept. Depriving the body of what it wants is merely the path to at some point giving in to our cravings and often loosing control of how much of an unhealthy option we are consuming. Moreover, if we just allow ourselves to have the things we want, we wouldn’t feel that overwhelming urge to inhale a family size block of chocolate.

When it comes down to exercise, I have learned to push myself in a healthy way to attain a level of physical fitness healthy for my body. Each person’s body is different individual to the person inside. Individuals require different kinds of physical activity to cater to their needs. For example, I like to focus on toning my body and maintaining an adequate muscle mass, so I tend to balance my cardio- weights ratio. I prefer to take part in physical activity, which I enjoy to keep me motivated and having fun whilst working out. I find that taking classes are the best way to maintain motivation as you are more likely too keep a solid pace and speed when surrounded by peers also taking the class and with loud music and instructions to go alongside you are much more likely to keep the blood pumping and continue to learn from each other and push each other in a healthy yet competitive way. Another way to get the most out of your physical activity is to exercise outdoors. For example a long run on the beach or riding a mountain bike on a balanced incline road. If you prefer to stick to working out at the gym, a good way to get the best out of your routine is to mix it up between boxing gloves, bands, resistor balls or medicine balls. To maintain a balanced exercise routine, its best to work out 3-4 times a week at minimum for about 75 minutes a day. This includes a solid 15 minute stretch divided before and after your chosen workout.

SO TRUE!

My Bathroom

(I use the Clinique 1,2,3 Step face wash range and I highly recommend it)

I have just spent the beginning of the week cleaning out and organising my room. This is my bathroom all done! I love using see through and white organisation trays and whatnot they look so clean. Im a sucker for all the new bright colours the Revlon nail varnish is being released in! Although I must say I can never turn down a nude or cream colour to keep it tidy and looking clean.

What I wake up to in the morning

I live in a part of the Queensland that is more country like than city like. I absolutely love the countryside. And because I wake up early in the mornings and when the wether is still quite cool the grass is always extra green and all the animals are out and about frolicking. I also love the long slow drive into the city for a day of adventures its great time out for me, I seem to do all my best thinking in my car. This is a view from my bedroom which I wake up to each morning. Its incredible.

My wardrobe

This is going to be my new shoe purchase which I have fallen in love with as soon as I saw them.

I am currently in-between the process of cleaning out my wardrobe and getting ready for the new summer season. Winter is officially over, which to an extend I am disappointed about. I quite enjoy the cooler days where you can rug up in an obnoxious amount of wooly clothes, coats, boots and hats. However, I love to see what new things are coming into season. I have a habit of collecting accessories mostly shoes and handbags. And oddly enough I tend to wear the same pair of shoes each time I go out repetitively when I have various other pairs to choose from. I love to wear something quite glamourous with something rather casual. For example, I tend to wear a sparkly sequin skirt with a loose white t-shit with a blazer and simple black platforms, or even a pair of camel coloured shorts with a knitted jumper and a lot of sparkly jewels.

`

I do enjoy having a quiet evening with a small group of people rather than a big night out in a bar or club. Im much more functional and social when im surrounded by a small group of people I can have a proper stimulating conversation. When Im heading out in the evening, I tend to wear a simple dress if I am only going out for a quiet nigh and if it is in the Winter, I almost always wear a pair of stockings with it (either simple black, lace or with a patten). During the winter nights I also wear a nice coat especially if my dress is quite simple. So sometimes I often wear a faux fur coat or shawl.

Bathroom organisation

I have been in the process of organising and cleaning out my bathroom and wardrobe and have been looking for glamourous ways to organise my beauty products and whatnot. I have seen these lucite trays used and I have fallen in love with the idea. so this is what I have decided to track down. I also love the idea of little pretty saucers used to hold jewellery and bits and pieces.
